Hi, my name is Jessica and I am a holistic health coach fitness instructor and mom to three little ones. I’ve always been into health but my path really started when I was a young girl growing up as a competitive gymnast. I also did numerous other sports in both junior high and high school my favorite of which was competitive surfing. Being healthy has always kind of just been a part of my life and eating healthy and staying active is really helped me perform at my best.
Unfortunately, like most adolescents do I thought that eating healthy really meant eating as little as possible and staying away from anything that contained any fat in it whatsoever and I ended up struggling with an eating disorder as the teenager. My super low point was when I finally realized that after seeing a nutritionist that I would no longer be able to have children if I kept at my way of eating. This was a big turning point for me since I had always dreamed of having a family. At this point I quickly tried to turn things around by eating healthier but soon realized that my constant headaches and super sensitive skin was telling me that something still wasn’t right.
HOLISTIC HEALTH JOURNEY
At this point I started looking into taking more of a holistic approach to living and realized that being healthy isn’t just what you eat but really is a lifestyle. After doing more research I finally decided to go back to school and before I knew it, I was getting my master’s in holistic nutrition. Through this journey, I realized that holistic health and taking care of your body as a whole is really the secret to your overall well-being. In order to take care of our body, on both the inside and out, we need to mindfully choose the products that we use on our skin as well as around our home and of course what we eat as well.
BECOMING A MOM
After becoming a mom, these ideas became all the more imperative as I realized that from the very first second that you get pregnant everything you eat and do really does affect your baby. I know this firsthand because when I became pregnant I soon became allergic to topical creams that I had always used growing up as well as band-aids. My skin chemistry just totally changed and after having my son, I realized how sensitive his skin was and that the traditional products that claimed to be natural just weren’t gonna be good enough. I really needed something that didn’t have any chemicals whatsoever and that were fragrance free. Again, this is where the idea from holistic health really started to affect everything that I did as a parent.
MY GOAL FOR THE NEXT CHAPTER OF MY LIFE
Now that I’m well into this parenthood thing, with three children of my own ages one to seven, I know firsthand that it can seem all but impossible to navigate through this journey and is why I’ve dedicated my life to help teaching others that it really is possible. There are just there’s so many options out there and I want to help you be able to decide which ones are gonna be best for you and your family. No matter what, yes your family is super important, but taking care of you is ultimately how you’re gonna take better care of them as well. It is now my mission to not only make good for you food taste better but to teach you that health is a lifestyle. From everything you do, from your functional movements to how you eat and what you put on your body and how you clean your home affects everything around you.
